Dougal at the BCPS Performance Day 2014

Dougal started his competitive career in 2014 as a 4 year old. he won his first two dressage competitions, then won a Qualifier for the Vale View Arena Eventing Championships and followed this by Qualifying for the British Eventing 4 year old Championships at Osberton where he finished in =10th place, the only pony in the class. He then went to the British Connemara Pony Society Performance Day  where he won the Intermediate Combined Training and One day Event. He finished the season being graded by the Sports Pony Stallion Society, one of only five 5 stallions out of 16 presented to grade. They commented on his "excellent rideability, willingness and rhythm".

In 2015 he won at BE100 level and only once finished out of the top five. He was placed in the M & M Working Hunter Pony HOYS Qualifier at the  Lincolnshire Show and then went on to better his 2014 success at the BCPS Performance day by winning the OPEN Combined Training, Show Jumping and One Day Event. He will continue his Eventing career in 2016.

On his first outing in 2016 Dougal had a fantastic weekend at Chatsworth Horse Trials where he contested the new BE100 Arena Eventing classes. He was placed 6th on Friday and then 2nd on Saturday in a class of 40. He then went on to finish 5th in the same class at Houghton amassing enough points to qualify for the final at Blenheim where he finished 5th (see his News page). Just to prove that he is getting pretty good at these classes he then won two Eventer Trials at Shelford which qualified him for the Final at Osberton. Three days later he won at his first BE Event of 2016, the BE100 class at Buckminster and was then 6th in his first Novice at Frickley. He then completed the "hat trick" when winning the Connemara Performance Day one day event for the third year running. Not only did he win the Open One Day Event but also the dressage, show jumping and combined training. His final run of the season was in the Eventer Trial Fianals at Osberton where he finished 2nd. Just to cap a fantastic year, he was then graded as a Premium Stallion with SHB(GB).
